Rice Village District is bringing back their hit a cappella competition, The Sing Off, preceding the annual tree lighting. This year’s varsity line-up will compete a number of upbeat, holiday-themed songs in front of a VIP-judges panel for all to enjoy. Emcee of the competition will be The Bachelorette star, Luke Pell.

Four Houston-based a cappella groups will compete for the 2018 Sing Off title, including the Rice University Philharmonics, Grandmas’ Boyfriends, The Houston Tidelanders, and The Houston Horizon Chorus. The groups will compete in two rounds and perform a holiday set where they will be scored on song choice, choreography, and vocal performance.

The Sing-Off will take place in front of the Christmas tree at the corner of University and Morningside Drive. The competition champion will get to light the Christmas tree and will receive a donation to their group.
