Rice hosts the NCAA Baseball Regional
Rice hosts an NCAA Baseball Regional at Reckling Park with Alcorn State, California and Baylor as the other teams in in the Houston regional. Only one of these four teams can advance on to the Super Regional and continue the quest for a spot in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Rice (41-19) is one of only eight national seeds in the 64-team NCAA Baseball Tournament, meaning that if the Owls win this regional they will also host a Super Regional next weekend.
It's a double-elimination tournament with California and Baylor — two teams who have already beaten Rice this season — meeting in the first game at 2 p.m. Friday. Rice will take on sub .500 Alcorn State at 6 p.m. Friday.
The losers of the Friday games meet in a 2 p.m. Saturday elimination game and the winners play at 6 p.m. Saturday with the regional going on from there until every team but one has two losses. Tickets to each day's action are $16 for reserved seats and $14 for general admission.
