Artist Dan Havel may be best known as a sculptor and creator of large-scale public art in his collaborations with artist Dean Ruck and Havel Ruck Projects. However, drawing has been a major part of his practice as an artist for the last 30 years. Drawing Assumptions, opening at Redbud Gallery in the Heights on July 4, brings together early works along with new drawings and sculptures that have never been exhibited before.
The exhibit will include works that reflect Havel’s long time interest in the physical act of transformation, including work from the 1990s that explored concepts of Alchemy, to recent work that explores the physical and conceptual dismantling of the language of architecture.
The exhibit will be on through July 26.
