Redbud Arts Center will present Gulia Groenke: “Inflamed Spirits.” Groenke was born in a place that influenced her to expose the devastating human Imprint on the natural world in her paintings. Norilsk, a city located in the world’s northernmost area, is about 200 miles above the arctic circle and pronounced as one of the most polluted places on Earth.
Groenke’s works expose in form and color, inconspicuous through abstraction, the human impact on the global environment and extends beyond the devastating effects experienced in her birthplace addressing environmental issues far and wide.
Her work transpires quiet contemplation which she expresses through color and form. Her paintings are filled with solemn depictions tugging at our core without judgement to bring about reflection and awareness.
This is her first solo exhibition and shows the interconnectedness between nature and humanity revealing a mutual codependency.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until October 28.
