Author John Thompson will be reading from and signing his debut novel The Reservoir. Set in Richmond during the 1880s, the book is based on an actual murder case, centering on the discovery of a body in the town reservoir.
Thompson, a former writer for National Geographic, did not set out to write a novel. He originally began to research the old Richmond court for a non-fiction piece. As he delved deeper and deeper into his research, Thompson found he was so stricken by the story and its characters that he could not help but step inside their heads.
