Houstonians Jamuna Murali and Raja Rajeshwary Bhat will perform, demonstrate and discuss different ragas and their use in Indian classical and religious music. 

A basic component of South Asian classical music, ragas are melodic frameworks in which musicians compose. The style is often improvisational, and different ragas are used to evoke certain moods or emotions. 

This concert is part of Houston Arts Alliance's Folklife & Traditional Arts program, "Sacred Songs, Sacred Sites."
