QFest, the Houston GLBT-Q International Film Festival, will showcase a total of 30 programs from all over the world.
I Am Divine (July 25, 7 p.m.), this year's Opening Night Gala Selection, celebrates the unforgettable 300-pound underground drag icon. And during Closing Night, release your inner prom queen with the outrageous G.B.F., in which three of the most popular girls compete to woo the only out kid in their school to be their prom date.
QFest will showcase three additional Centerpiece titles. Selected showcase films include: Hunter, this year's American Centerpiece and feature film debut of 24 year-old Ian Samplin; Documentary Centerpiece Valentine Road (July 27, 7 p.m.), Marta Cunningham's engrossing account of a 2008 school shooting of a transgender student; and making its US premiere, Out Loud, the International Centerpiece and Lebanon's first gay themed feature film.
QFest 2013 also boasts the largest number of attending talent, which will include native Houstonian Kyle Henry, who returns to Houston with the local premiere of his highly-celebrated feature Fourplay (July 26, 8 p.m.), a series of four sexually-charged comedic shorts inspired by all things naughty and nice.
