Q Series film screening: The Aggressives

eventdetail

The Aggressives examines the subculture of masculine Black lesbians in New York City who identify as "Aggressives." Having been called the "female" counter to the classic gay film Paris is Burning, The Aggressives focuses, in part, on the subculture's developed underground "ball" scene and, in doing so, speaks to the complexity of contemporary racialized masculinity.

The screening will be followed by a discussion facilitated by Nessette Falu, a Ph.D. candidate at Rice University.
