PrintMatters presents its fourth annual Rockin' Rollin' Prints, a one-day printing event in which 70 artists and students from around the state will bring their hand carved, oversized woodblocks to Saint Arnold Brewing Co. to have them inked and printed by a 2-ton "steamroller."
From 10 a.m.-5 p.m., visitors will be able to watch the printing in the parking lot and view the finished prints hanging in the Beer Hall (an exhibition of the prints will be held at Gallery M Squared will open on June 6).
The purpose of this event is to educate the general public about printmaking. This year's theme is "Balance." A commemorative glass comes with the admission.
This event kicks off PrintHouston 2014, a citywide, summer-long celebration of original prints, the artists who create them and the people who collect them. Exhibitions, lectures, workshops and special events at galleries, nonprofit organizations, print shops and museums will happen throughout Houston during May, June and July.
