Preservation Houston's all-new 90-minute guided walking tour of the Civic Center and Theater District will look at the remnants of the 1920s plan to build a Spanish-style government center and how those plans were affected by the Great Depression and the city's explosive post-World War II development. Highlights include the recently restored Julia Ideson Building of the Houston Public Library (1926, Cram & Ferguson; 2010, Gensler); Joseph Finger's Art Deco City Hall (1939); Tranquillity Park (1979, Charles Tapley Associates); Jones Hall (1966, Caudill Rowlett Scott); and the Alley Theatre (1969, Ulrich Franzen & Associates with MacKie & Kamrath).

This an exterior architecture tour only. The tour will not go inside any buildings.
