Peveto presents a solo exhibition of paintings, drawings and sound installation by Houston-based artist Felipe Lopez. The exhibition, Soundwave: Eternal Loyalist, will function as a single experience, inspired by a phenomenon called synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.
As a visual artist and a sound engineer, Lopez has woven visual and acoustical strands to engage his audience with multiple senses. The exhibition includes works on canvas and paper that remain true to the organic and natural production of sound in nature, while the electronic sound installation, created by Lopez and his wife Meghan, offers commentary on man-made components of acoustical experiences.
Additionally, Lopez has invited interactive sound performances by other Houston-based artists Paul Connolly and David Garcia.
The opening reception is on March 29, 6-8 p.m. Connolly performs on April 5, 3-5 p.m. Garcia performs on April 19, 3-5 p.m.
