The 20th Annual Cycle for Life Spin-a-Thon raises funds to provide healing programs and camps for children, teens and families challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Presented by White Oak Energy, this year's theme is "There's No Place Like Periwinkle" and welcomes biking and spinning enthusiasts from around the Houston area who are teaming up to support the foundation.
Along with riders, the indoor spin-a-thon brings together patients, families and Periwinkle supporters for a festive and fun-filled morning that helps ensure the continuation of Periwinkle programs, which better the lives of children and teens with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses at Texas Children's Hospital.
Cycle for Life teams of four rally together to raise needed funds while spinning on stationary bicycles inside The Houstonian Club. Each team spins for four 30-minute heats. Individuals are also welcome to participate in the event by securing sponsorships or pledges. Volunteers are also needed that Saturday morning at The Houstonian to help with activities and logistics, including a silent auction, children's games, a raffle, music, food and contests. Awards will be given to the Best Dressed Team, Best Bike Decorations, Most Spirited Team, Most Calories Burned and Top Fundraiser.
