The Pangea Network, an international nonprofit dedicated to empowering motivated individuals in Kenya and the United States through education and mentorship, is hosting its annual “Out of Africa” celebration. One of the primary focuses of the gala will be to raise support for the drought-stricken country of Kenya, which was impacted this year and is suffering from a shortage of crops and sustainable resources. Pangea will do this by empowering entrepreneurial women who have trained in their programs on skills like first aid and business to help give back to their communities through enterprise. Creator and star of The Last Man on Earth, former Saturday Night Live actor, and longtime Pangea ambassador Will Forte will also act as emcee throughout the night.
At this business formal event, guests will experience life-changing stories of the women, children and communities impacted by Pangea, an auction with unique items, as well as entertainment by magician Ben Jackson and music from African artists.
All proceeds from the 2017 Out of Africa event will further benefit Pangea’s mission of empowering and helping high school girls overcome challenges at home in Texas through the Young Women’s Leadership Challenge education and mentorship program, which inspires young female leaders to become global citizens and community mentors. The Kenyan Women’s Network program will also benefit, and focuses on basic business and life skills courses, revolving business grants, as well as first-aid training in poverty-stricken communities.
