Panel Discussion: "Black Radical Imagination"

eventdetail
Art League Houston

Art League Houston, in collaboration with Our Image Film & Art, hosts a panel discussion in conjunction with the exhibition Black Radical Imagination: A Futurist Film Showcase, on view at Art League Houston. The discussion will use the showcase as a jumping off point to explore topics that include: What is Afro-futurism; what could "Blackness" and "liberation" look like in the future, real or imagined; and how Black identity is currently defined on-screen and who is defining it.

Panelists include Wura-Natasha Ogunji, an Austin-based performance and visual artist; Amir George, a Chicago-based motion picture artist and film curator; and Cauleen Smith, a Chicago-based multi-channel film and video installation artist. The discussion will be moderated by Robert Pruitt.
