A new partnership for the fall season at the Orange Show Monument will bring in the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Rolling Roadshow to co-present a series of films within the historic outdoor art environment. Food trucks, art shows and DJ sets are also part of the evening.
In this 1994 study of Generation X manners, Lelaina (Winona Rider), the valedictorian of her college class, camcords her friends in a mock documentary of post education life. Troy (Ethan Hawke) is her best friend, a perpetually unemployed musical slacker. Vickie (Janeane Garofalo) is a manager at the Gap while Sammy (Steve Zahn) has problems grappling with his sexuality. When Lelaina meets Michael (Ben Stiller), an earnest video executive who takes her homemade video to her MTV-like station, she must decide what she values — the materialism of yuppie Michael or the philosophical musings of Troy. Set and filmed in Houston, there are many recognizable backdrops throughout the film including downtown, Montrose and The Heights.
The movie will be hosted by Meredith Borders, managing editor of Badassdigest.com.
