History's classic womanizer has an action-packed day ending in permanent relocation to hell. Don Giovanni's servant Leporello opens the opera complaining about having to stay up all night waiting for his master to emerge from inside a house where he is up to no good. Finally, Don comes out with a wailing Donna Anna behind him. This wakes her father, who comes out, ascertains the situation and comes after Don Giovanni with his sword. They duel and Anna's father is killed.
Even though the show opens with a rape and a murder, it's called a tragi-comedy because later there are many laughs, mostly thanks to Leporello.
