If you don't like dark, tragic operas, then Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus is for you. A German operetta in three acts, it  contains elements (including speech) similar to musical theater. A favorite piece is "Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka" (as fun as the name sounds) in Act Two.
