This exhibition is inspired by the 1863 Salon des Refusés in Paris, which featured work by artists rejected by the official Paris Salon, including that of Paul Cézanne, Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro and James Whistler.
Organized by Emily Sloan, the Salon des Refusés 2011 features artwork rejected from Lawndale Art Center's The BIG Show. Now in its second year, the show will include a "People's Choice" cash prize that has been donated by local art supporters. An opening reception will be held from 6:30 - 9 p.m. The exhibition is on view through July 9.
