Project Row Houses has always attempted to respond to the needs of its community. In order to address the broad range of topics surrounding the idea and the reality of FOOD, PRH has invited artists, chefs, historians, nutritionists and gardeners to delve into food-related topics from the labor conditions that bring us readily accessible food to the process of urban farming and sustainable practice, the role of food in our belief systems and daily rituals, to the image of the African American cook and the recipes that are passed down from generation to generation, preserving cultural heritage and family legacy.

The participating artists will be in attendance at the artist talk on March 23, at 7 p.m. The opening reception, on March 26, 4 - 7 p.m. featurins Brother-n-Law’s BBQ, Melange Creperie, Jorge Rojas’ Tortilla Oracle, a cooking demo by Chef Tarsha, family activities, Texas Folklife’s “Place At The Table or Food Story Sharing” and greenHouse openHouse: Celebrating one year with greenHouse collective.
