Charles M. Russell began to paint as a cowboy. With firsthand knowledge of outlaws, Native Americans and cowboys, the American West pervades his paintings and sculptures. After moving from cowboy to full-time artist, Russell's art had a strong influence on Hollywood's first filmmakers.
The exhibit opens June 6 and runs through August 29.
