From early childhood, Texas born artists and brothers Stuart and Scott Gentling were fascinated by the work of John James Audubon. Inspired by Audubon’s Birds of America the Gentling brothers set out to create their own visions of Texas wildlife, sketching and painting some 50 birds in their native habitats, from the Big Bend, the Panhandle, the Big Thicket and the Gulf Coast. The result was the elephant folio, Of Birds and Texas, published by the Gentling Editions Press. The exhibition, on view until Nov. 13, consists of prints of these watercolors on loan from The Museum of Printing History, Houston.
