Opening of Astroworld 1968

Optical Project

Exactly five years ago, Astroworld closed its gates. Now Optical Project is commemorating this Houston landmark by presenting the park's original model, built in 1967 by Ed Henderson Productions and unveiled at Foley's Department Store. Once held in Judge Roy Hofheinz's private room on the Astrodome's 9th level, the model was found in a warehouse in 2006, sawn into six irregular pieces and covered in dirt. Catch a glimpse of the reassembled model at Optical Project before it get snatched up by a preservationist collector.
