This exhibition explores the art of this unique region of the Pacific Islands, which was first brought to the West by 19th-century explorers and would later inspire a generation of Surrealist artists. On Friday, May 6 at 8 p.m., David Wirz will offer an illustrated lecture on explorer Paul Wirz' visual accounts of New Guinea.
Ancestors of the Lake is on view through August 28.
