Guests can spend an evening behind the lens with world-renowned photographer Joel Sartore as he presents the National Geographic Photo Ark during The Nature Conservancy’s 2019 Conservation Gala. Chaired by Lisa and Dana Roy, the gala will highlight Sartore’s groundbreaking effort to document species before they disappear while highlighting The Nature Conservancy’s commitment to protecting at-risk species across Texas.

Since launching the Photo Ark project in 2006, Sartore has traveled to more than 40 countries in his quest to create a photo archive of global biodiversity. To date, he has captured portraits of over 9,500 animal species, inching him nearer to his goal of documenting 12,000 unique species. During the gala, guests will be treated to Sartore’s awe-inspiring wildlife photography and will hear firsthand stories from the photographer.
