Musiqa Loft Concert at CAMH: "Right Here, Right Now: Houston"

eventdetail

The program features five works by up-and-coming composers, including 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, who studied at Rice, and four others currently based in Houston. The works featured on the program are scored for various combinations of instruments from an ensemble consisting of saxophone, violin, viola, cello and percussion.

Joining on this program are frequent Musiqa collaborators Ingrid Gerling (violin), Ab Sengupta (viola), Patrick Moore (cello), Dan Gelok (saxophone) and Craig Hauschildt (percussion).

The first of the season of Musiqa's loft series of informal, intimate concerts, "Right Here, Right Now: Houston" is presented in collaboration with the current CAMH exhibition of the same name. The exhibition features work by artists from the Houston area, demonstrating the city's growing reputation as a source of internationally renowned artists.

Featured in the exhibition are works by artists Debra Barrera, Nathaniel Donnett and Carrie Marie Schneider. The exhibition is on view through Nov. 30.
