The first brass piping from the Louis and Annie Friedman Clock Tower — also known as the Market Square Clock — will occur on Oct. 25 at 12:15 p.m. As part of two grant projects funded by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance, University of Houston student Russell Haehl will perform a brief composition by Adam Beard.

The event will launch a six-month process in which each month another student composer will be added to the program with a new brass premiere. Each time the number of instruments will increase until the final performance in March will be approximately 45 minutes long and include a total of six new compositions and six performers.

This project is one aspect of public art clock tower project What Time Is It? by artist Jo Ann Fleischhauer, and the hourly sound composition by Musiqa's artistic director Anthony Brandt and Chapman Welch, titled C O'Clock, that began on Sept. 28.
