Igor Stravinsky shifted the path of 20th century music. His The Rite of Spring ballet caused riots during its premiere. Stravinsky's career, however, suggests more of an evolution than a revolution — he wrote in a myriad of different styles.
The evening will include a talk by Houston Symphony's maestro Hans Graf, a performance of Stravinsky's Italian Suite by Mark Cheikhet (violin) and Elena Portnaya (piano), and conclude with a screening of a documentary about the composer.
