The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents "The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta," an exhibition celebrating the illustrious life and six-decade career of the influential fashion designer. Presented in collaboration with Oscar de la Renta, LLC, the exhibition draws from de la Renta’s corporate and personal archives, the archives of the French label Pierre Balmain, private lenders, and the costume collection of the MFAH to present some 90 ensembles designed by the late couturier.
"The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta" is curated by André Leon Talley, former American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine and lifelong friend of the designer, in collaboration with Cindi Strauss, Sara and Bill Morgan Curator of Decorative Arts, Craft and Design at the MFAH, with assistance by fashion historians Molly Sorkin and Jennifer Park. The exhibition showcases a historic overview of Mr. de la Renta’s design work, highlighting recurring themes such as the significant influences of Spain, Russia, China, and the garden on his designs. Daywear, eveningwear, and bridal will be featured.
Following the opening day, the exhibit will be on display until January 28, 2018.
