Morgan-Menil Biennial Lecture: "Kent Minturn: Wols and Dubuffet in Cassis"

eventdetail

This year's Morgan-Menil Fellow, Kent Minturn, investigates: What disturbance did Wols and fellow artist Jean Dubuffet experience on the Mediterranean coast?

Minturn answers this question and other mysteries about the artists' visits to Cassis, France. To each man, the beautiful Côte d'Azur was unsettling territory, leaving them with feelings of disorientation that are evident in the work they produced while in Cassis and afterward.

Kent Minturn is director of the MA Program in Modern Art Critical and Curatorial Studies (MODA) at Columbia University. Specializing in postwar art and theories, he is currently completing a monograph on Jean Dubuffet.
