The University of Houston Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts will host the annual two-day Moores School of Music Jazz Festival featuring performances by High School, Junior High and Middle School students. Both nights will also feature special evening concerts.
On February 24, the Moores School Jazz Ensemble will perform along with a full performance of the Miles Davis album “The Birth of The Cool” by Houston Area Jazz Artists.
On February 25, the Moores School Jazz Orchestra will perform with guest artist Bill Evans on saxophone.
At the end of both days, the festival will award the Outstanding Middle School/Junior High and High School Band of the day along with individual All-Star Soloist awards. On Saturday, awards will also be presented for Outstanding Bands and Soloists of the Festival. This year, there will also be opportunities for graduating seniors to perform auditions for the Moores School of Music while on campus with their performing groups.
