The Moores Opera Center at the University of Houston presents their version of Mozart's backstage comedy Impresario, Impresario! The audience is treated to two versions of the same short opera in one performance. The first is a traditional interpretation that Mozart would surely recognize with dueling divas set in the 18th century. In the second, the sopranos meet The Sopranos for a modern take which features rival singers battling backstage for the spotlight at a televised singing contest with suspicious mob connections. Sung in English with dialogue between the musical numbers, this production has a lot of high notes and a lot of laughs.
