Moody Gallery will present Soaring in the Clouds, an exhibition of new work by Ed Wilson. This marks Wilson's second solo exhibition at the gallery and is concurrent with the unveiling of his public sculpture commission at the George R. Brown Convention Center which was awarded by the Houston Arts Alliance. The commission, also titled Soaring in the Clouds, depicts a 67-foot mobile of bird and cloud forms made of perforated stainless steel that is suspended from the ceiling and dramatically lit with colorful, changing LED theatre lights.
Support material for the commission will be featured in his exhibition at Moody Gallery, including a model of the commission entitled Soaring Reverie. The exhibition is also concurrent with the citywide event Sculpture Month Houston that celebrates and showcases sculpture throughout Houston.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through November 19, 2016.
