The Moody and the Center for Engaged Research and Learning present the improvised and interactive performance of The Day I Met the Sun.
Conceived by CERCL Fellow Devin T. Mays, this second iteration of the work is performed alongside collaborators Bill Harris, Jordan Knecht, and Veronica Salinas. Inspired and guided by the late musician and teacher Turyiasangitanada (the Sanskrit name adopted by Alice Coltrane), this sonic offering of presence and participation is grounded in the tradition of improvised music and sound.
Originally performed at the MCA Chicago, The Day I Met the Sun is described by Mays as “part poem, part sculpture, part song, in performance.”
