Major League Baseball will honor bestselling author and poet Maya Angelou, founder of Motown and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Berry Gordy and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown at the annual MLB Beacon Awards Luncheon during the 2014 Civil Rights Game. The honorees will each receive an MLB Beacon Award at the event, which will be held on Friday, and will be recognized on the field prior to the Civil Rights Game at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros.
