Mitochondria Gallery will present “Resonance of Eras,” a solo exhibition by Ugandan visual artist Kansiime Brian Lister. The body of work is a continuation of his “Timeless Echoes” series, featuring figurative paintings of women in arresting compositions that blend classical artistry with contemporary insight.
The artist meticulously portrays his subjects and their surroundings with an eye for detail, imbuing each piece with a profound sense of intimacy and reverence. Through these vivid depictions, the artist reclaims and reimagines the representation of Black women throughout history, transcending the limitations of the past.
With this exhibition, Lister hopes to inspire reflection on the legacy of Black women and to honor the stories that still resonate through generations.
The exhibition will remain on display through March 1.
