Mitochondria Gallery will present “The Duality of Existence,” the second solo exhibition by Nigerian artist Odeyemi Oluwaseun. In this presentation, Oluwaseun embarks on an introspective journey, delving into the profound dualities that define the existence of a young adult in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Lagos, Nigeria.

The concept of duality, a central theme in Oluwaseun’s work, serves as a guiding thread that unravels the intricate relationship between opposing forces and phenomena, a reflection of the very essence of human existence. It is through these contrasting experiences that we come to comprehend the depth and richness of life itself.

Oluwaseun utilizes vibrant colors throughout this body of work that contrast with dark, warm backdrops. In a literal sense, the darkness of the paint in these underscores the importance of light. “The Duality of Existence” invites viewers to contemplate the delicate balance of life’s dualities and the profound wisdom that can be gleaned from embracing both sides of the proverbial coin.
