Continuing on its mission to recognize and promote plays by women, Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company is teaming up with Classical Theatre Company to produce a staged reading of Cicely Hamilton’s Diana of Dobson's. Written in the early 20th century, the play was largely ignored both for its unashamed confrontation of class conflict and the fact that it was penned by a woman.

Diana follows a young working class English woman who unexpectedly comes into a large sum of money and decides to live a life of extreme luxury at a Swiss resort while it lasts. During her escapade to the resort town of Pontresina, Diana hobnobs with the aristocratic set, all of whom are completely unaware of her true economic situation. The play throws into sharp relief the effect money, or at least the perception of it, has on people’s expectations and estimation of others.
