Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
The large sketches that Peter Paul Rubens painted in preparation for the tapestries of the Triumph of the Eucharist series are splendid examples of the Flemish master's art. Alejandro Vergara analyzes the six sketches from the collection of the Museo Nacional del Prado that are on view in the exhibition Spectacular Rubens, showing how they define key elements of Rubens's work.
A reception to meet the speaker and a catalogue signing follow the lecture.
