Greece's latest Sundance sensation,Dogtooth (2009), directed by Greek director Yorgos Lathimos, is a zany dark comedy about the lives of three teenagers living in an isolated countryside home.
The three listen to homemade vocabulary tapes of made-up definitions by their possessive, control-freak parents, who also invent stories of a brother exiled for bad behavior. The father is the only one who can leave the house, and the only outsider allowed in is a girl named Christina, who is paid to be the only son's whore. Eventually, Christina grows tired of this menial role and makes sexual advances to the other family members — spreading the seeds of rebellion throughout the estate.
