MFAH Family Day: “Días de los Niños del Mundo” Community Celebration

eventdetail

Today, families are invited to make exciting discoveries about art from across the globe and to celebrate Houston's youth culture right here at home. This program is held in partnership with Días de los Niños del Mundo, a yearlong education and outreach initiative of Society for the Performing Arts.

Visitors will be able to: Create 3-D works of art inspired by Eduardo Chillida's outdoor sculpture; discover how an artist used science to design a work of art at the Gallery Cart for families; create a community sculpture; sketch in the European galleries; search beautiful modern pop-ups to discover the hidden yellow square in each illustration at storytime with friendly MFAH educators (1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.); explore the endless directions a story can take by joining in a storytelling game in the galleries led by Janine Joseph of HGOco (3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.); and listen to a poetry and spoken-word performance by local poets and teens from SPA's Movement Toward Literacy program (2 p.m.).
