Often referred to as "the father of Impressionism," Claude Monet is known for his long, dappled brushstrokes and multiple paintings of subjects captured under different light and weather conditions, such as haystacks, Rouen Cathedral and his glorious gardens and water lilies at Giverny.
This workshop begins with a brief tour in the exhibition The Age of Impressionism: Great French Paintings from the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute to view paintings by Monet. Then, in the Glassell School of Art's painting studio, artist Beth Secor leads participants in painting a single subject under a variety of different light conditions. Each participant will leave with more than one small-scale, completely personal painting.
Limited to 20 participants. Meet in the museum's Beck Building.
