MFAH Archaeology Lecture: "Britain Encounters Rome: Contact through Conquest and Consent"

eventdetail
Museum of London Archaeology

"If you can't beat them, imitate them." Did that happen with the Roman conquest of Britain? Excavations in the summer of 2013 in London yielded thousands of exciting artifacts that reveal new knowledge about Rome in Britain. How did Rome perceive the Britons, and how did the Britons feel about Rome?

These ancient issues of cultural identity and assimilation are still with us today. The MFAH partners with the Archaeological Institute of America Houston Society to present Sadie Watson, director of excavations at the site of media corporation Bloomberg's European headquarters.
