Metropolitan Opera National Council presents Houston Benefit Recital

The Houston District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council will present a benefit recital featuring Reginald Smith, Jr., baritone, and Bethany Self, pianist, with a reception following.

Mr. Smith, last years Grand Finals winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and a recent graduate of Houston Grand Opera Studio, will perform a variety of art songs, arias, and selections from musical theater. In the 2016-2017 season, Mr. Smith will make his company debut with Opera Memphis as Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Dallas Opera as Bonzo in Madame Butterfly, and Opera Carolina as Giorgio Germont in La Traviata.

The recital proceeds will be used for prizes for the winners of the Houston Metropolitan Auditions on January 7, 2017.
