Menil Collection Illustrated Talk: "Gandhi and the Politics of Visual Representation" by Vinay Lal

Vinay Lal, a Johns Hopkins-trained historian who teaches at UCLA, has written extensively about Gandhi. His talk will examine Gandhi's life and work in the light of various forms of visual representation, from cartoons and public statues to paintings and nationalist prints.

Co-presented with University of Houston India Studies Program. This event is part of Gandhi's Legacy: Houston Perspectives, an initiative of the Menil Collection. It is an exploration of nonviolence and the resonance of Mohandas Gandhi's philosophy by Houston cultural, educational and social justice organizations.
