Vocalist Ermelinda Cuellar will offer a workshop performance of her work Palabras de mi madre. An original work in text and music, Palabras de mi madre is a theatrical concert blending dramatic storytelling with live musical performance. The text is based on a long-term personal project of documenting her mother's stories of the family's native Peru. The project has since developed into a work for the stage.

While the stories speak of experiences of life in South America, the music is of North America, rooted in a variety of jazz styles, with Cuellar as composer and lead vocalist.
