MECA celebrates 18 years of bringing its Día de los Muertos Festival to the Houston community. The festival is a public celebration of Latin American folk art traditions that commemorate family and ancestry. Festival events include a community ofrenda exhibition, Latin American foods and artisan and artist vendors.
The festival will also host live performances of music, dance, and more. Performers include Tamo Junto (Brazilian samba); Más Pulpo (gulf coast accordion music); Bayou City Swing (gypsy jazz); Prema Bhat (Indian classical vocalist); Solero Flamenco; Grupo Guemilere (Afro-Cuban music and dance); Harry Sheppard (jazz vibraphones); Ermelinda Cuellar (jazz vocalist); MECA Ballet Folklórico; Mariachi
