MECA Performing Arts kicks off 2015 with El entrecejo (The Brow: The Life and Times of Frida). Written and directed by Angeles Romero and performed by Sayra Contreras, the work is a riveting 60-minute multimedia theater production that portrays the tumultuous life of Frida Kahlo. With compelling physicality and the use of interactive film projections, El Entrecejo lends new insights into that artist's struggle with polio, a near- fatal bus accident at 18, her tempestuous marriage to Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, her love affairs, her many surgeries and, ultimately, her death.
Performed in Spanish.
