MECA presents Floricanto Houston with Conjunto Aztlan, an evening of song, poetry, inspiration, and movement. It was 50 years ago this month that the United Farm Workers union, under the leadership of César Chávez and Dolores Huerta, initiated the grape strike that changed the lives of farm workers and inspired a social movement throughout the Southwest.
In recognition of this landmark anniversary, MECA invites the community to the Dow School Auditorium to come together and see a photographic exhibit that documented this struggle, and hear shared stories, remembrances, and the music that honored this struggle.
