Mao's Last Dancer screening

eventdetail

Based on former Houston Ballet principal dancer Li Cunxin's autobiography, Mao's Last Dancer tells the story of Li's move from China to study at Houston Ballet and his struggle to stay in the United States and marry his love. Li will appear at the benefit screening with Kyle MacLachlan, who plays immigration lawyer Charles Foster, founder of the Foster/Quan law firm. Immediately following the 6 pm showing,  a question and answer session will be held with Li, former Houston Ballet artistic director Ben Stevenson, the actors and special guests followed by a champagne reception.

There will also be a 9 p.m. screening. Both screenings are sold out.

Li Cunxin will appear at a book signing and reading at 4 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the Junior League. KUHF's St. John Flynn, host of The Front Row, will conduct a conversation with Li after the reading.
