Twinkling lights, snow and a flurry of holiday family fun are forecast for MainStreet America each Saturday this holiday season during the second annual Lights of Hope celebration, where one charity will receive a $10,000 check for the best outdoor light display. Nine Houston-area charitable organizations are each given one of the 12 MainStreet America designer showcase homes to create a thematic outdoor lighting display.
The nine participating charities include: My Person Foundation, The Breast Center, New Danville, Bridgewood Farms, JDRF, Interfaith of The Woodlands, HOPE, American Heart Association and Texas Children’s Hospital.
Supporting one of the nine charities is easy. Simply tour the homes and cast your vote with a $1 donation. All donations are given directly to each of the participating charities. The charity with the most votes will also receive a $10,000 donation check from MainStreet America.
In addition to supporting local charities, enjoy nightly snow flurries right here in Houston as the white fluff falls every night. Hop aboard the MainStreet Express train for a tour of the lights. Bring your own camera to capture the perfect photo at the Santa Selfie Station. Soak up some good old-fashioned family fun in the Magic on MainStreet Movie Theatre where holiday films play non-stop.
Kids can send a letter to Santa at the Sugar Plum Post Office and watch as their letter is carried far up to the North Pole. Snuggle up to an outdoor fire, sipping cocoa while enjoying outdoor lights synchronized to music. Play some Reindeer Games for fabulous prizes and much more.
Homes are open every Saturday evening between November 26 and December 17 from 6 – 9 pm, with the Lights of Hope award presented on December 17 to the home with the most popular votes.
